THE SHORT ANSWER

Door and window seals close the gap between a sash or door leaf and its frame to stop draughts, dust, water and noise. The most traded type is self-adhesive EPDM foam in D, P, E or I sections (popular sizes 9 × 6 to 21 × 15 mm); timber doors often use PU-foam coated kerf strips, and aluminium windows use EPDM or PVC glazing wedges. We supply them from 10 m with no minimum order, in black, white, brown, grey or beige.

Rubber, EPDM or self-adhesive weather stripping – which one?

Self-adhesive weather stripping is the quickest to fit: peel the backing and press it onto a clean frame – the EPDM foam D, P, E and I strips above are all self-adhesive. EPDM weather stripping is the long-life choice outdoors: closed-cell EPDM foam or solid EPDM rubber keeps its spring in sun, rain and frost (about –40 °C to +120 °C). Rubber weather stripping in solid EPDM, TPE or silicone is used where the seal is dragged or compressed hard – door bottoms, kerf-in bulb seals and glazing gaskets. PU foam is softer and cheaper but ages faster in sunlight, so it stays indoors or in a kerf.

Send the gap size with the door closed, or a photo of the old strip next to a ruler, and we suggest the section; orders start from 10 m in black, white, brown, grey or beige.

BUYER QUESTIONS

Door & window seals:
common questions.

Have a section in mind?
Dora can help with your enquiry.

Ask Dora ↗ All buyer questions ↗
01Which section do I need for my door gap?

Measure the gap with the door closed. As a starting point: I (9 × 2 mm) for 1–2 mm gaps, E (9 × 4) for 2–3.5 mm, P (9 × 5.5) for 3–5 mm and D (9 × 6 up to 21 × 15) for 3–12 mm. Choose a section about 20–40% taller than the gap so the foam is compressed but the door still closes easily.

02Is EPDM foam better than PU foam?

EPDM foam keeps its elasticity outdoors and handles UV, ozone and temperature changes better; PU foam with a PE film is softer, cheaper and common for interior doors and timber frames with a kerf groove. See our EPDM vs PU foam guide for a side-by-side table.

03Can you supply your own brand on the roll and carton?

Yes. Private-label cards, carton marks and roll lengths can be specified with your order.

04How much do door and window seals cost?

Indicative FOB prices start from US$0.05 per metre for standard EPDM foam profiles. Final price depends on section, material and quantity.
