THE SHORT ANSWER
Filament tape is a pressure-sensitive tape reinforced with glass-fibre threads, so it resists tearing and stretching far better than plain packing tape. Mono-directional tape (fibres along the length) is used for bundling and strapping; bi-directional or cross-weave tape resists tearing in both directions for heavy cartons; double-sided filament tape bonds parts and is used as a backing tape on sealing strips. It is a secondary line for us – we quote by width and roll length.

01Mono or cross filament tape?
Mono-directional is stronger along the length – for bundling and strapping. Cross / bi-directional also resists tearing across – for heavy or irregular cartons.
